How to Plan a Luxury Austin Wedding in Less than 3 months

Eighty-nine days.

That’s how long I had to design, plan, and execute a full-scale luxury Austin wedding for Whitney and Darrius at the iconic Austin Proper Hotel—one of the most design-forward properties in the heart of Austin.

Most luxury weddings take over a year. We had less than three months. And I’ve never felt more alive.

Designing Within Intention

Planning at the Austin Proper is both a dream and a discipline.

The hotel’s aesthetic is bold—rich textiles, sculptural lighting, warm woods, and curated art at every turn. When you plan a luxury wedding in a space that already has personality, your design must harmonize, not compete.

Whitney had a vision: gorgeous, deep red tones and anything dramatic. We leaned into modern romance, dripped with drama, wrapped in velvet:

  • A palette of burgundy, plum, warm ivory, and blush
  • Serpentine tables that stood out against the straight edges
  • Custom candle aisle runner designed to dazzle the ceremony
  • Candelabras dripped with anthurium because…yes.

Floral visions like these require trust and a true partnership with a florist to make this concept come to reality. Jo.An florals understood the vision and added elements that tied each element together, such as textured votives, and artfully designed ikebanas.

The ceremony took place indoors beneath soaring ceilings, framed by romantic, candlelit florals that felt intentional and present as all guests sat in a circle orientation to have the best views. For the reception, we transformed the ballroom into a candlelit and velvet oasis—intimate yet grand.

Luxury is refined.

The Race Against Time

Eighty-nine days moves fast.

Securing premium vendors in Austin during peak season required precision and relationships built over years. I called in every favor, leveraged every trusted connection, and curated a team that could execute at an elite level without months of back-and-forth. An event of this magnitude doesn’t happen by chance. It demands cooperation, seamless communication and relentless dissatisfaction for perfection, from every vendor involved.

There were moments:

  • A custom dance floor envisioned right at the last week
  • Specialty guest wristbands designed just at the last minute for perfect arrival
  • A last-minute guest count increase that required reworking the entire seating chart

I remember sitting in the hotel lobby one day after a site visit, laptop open, reconfiguring the floor plan while guests sipped cocktails around me. The energy of Austin buzzed outside. Inside, I was orchestrating timelines down to five-minute increments.

Luxury planning is invisible pressure.
It’s solving before anyone senses a problem.

The Guest Experience

From the moment guests checked into the Austin Proper, the weekend felt curated.

Wedding rehearsal went without a hitch and set the perfect stage to expectations for wedding day. Whitney was dressed in an impeccable white and fitted dress that set the tone for the weekend. It was a weekend of refinement and elegance and downright FUN clearly planned and anticipated for everyone. Rehearsal dinner was right around the corner welcoming each guest with great drinks and even greater food. Soft Texas air wrapping around the evening.

On the wedding day, everything unfolded seamlessly. Darrius and the man showed up and took a back seat to relaxation. They were treated with bubbles and tons of laughs in the room around the corner as we made magic unfold in the ballroom. Whitney danced, cheered and embraced the pampering as she prepared for the big moment. This is what all of the quick planning lead to. The moment that all guests would be dazzled with.

The ballroom doors opened to welcome guests to gorgeous drapery and dozens of lit candles. A live quartet played modern love songs. The lush scent of the hotel and warm candle wax lingered softly in the air.

When the bride stepped into view, framed by an ivory drapery walkway, a white aisle runner and golden light filtering through the ballroom, the entire room shifted.

And in that moment, the 89-day sprint faded away.

The Reception

Dinner was a plated culinary experience designed in collaboration with the hotel’s executive chef—elevated, seasonal, intentional. Every course timed to the rhythm of the evening.

The dance floor opened to a DJ masterpiece of incredible music. The space transformed from refined elegance to electric celebration in minutes. Drinks were flowing, the music was iconic and the vibes were infectious.

Even desserts told a story. A stunning three tier cake formed by white buttercream

At exactly 10:25 PM, Darrius and Whitney walked through a momentous perfect lineup of friends and family dazzling light wands as they made their grand exit. My team and I watched and cheered them from the wings.

That’s the reward.
The excitement after the masterpiece.

What 89 Days Taught Me

Planning a luxury wedding at the Austin Proper Hotel in under three months reaffirmed something I know deep in my bones:

Luxury isn’t about excess.
It’s about intention.
It’s about mastery under pressure.
It’s about delivering calm while carrying the weight behind the curtain.

Eighty-nine days.
Hundreds of decisions.
Thousands of details.

And one unforgettable night in the heart of Austin.

If you asked me whether I would do it again? Without hesitation.
